NZJeMA was shocked and heartbroken by the mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney on 14 December 2025, where fifteen people were killed during a peaceful Jewish gathering.

We extend our deepest condolences to the victims, their families, and Australia's Jewish community. We stand with those grieving and with everyone affected by the attack.

NZJeMA condemns antisemitism without qualification. We believe this violence grew from hatred and that the normalization of antisemitic propaganda creates real risks for Jewish communities. The tragedy is a painful warning that Australasia is not immune and that escalating antisemitism in New Zealand must be confronted seriously.

We recognize the courage of Ahmed Al Ahmed, who risked his own life while intervening to stop the attacker.

We call on New Zealanders to speak clearly against antisemitic conduct and rhetoric whenever it occurs.

NZJeMA reaffirms its commitment to community wellbeing, professional safety, and sustained action against hate.
